Raducanu just won his second Grand Slam Tennis at the US Open in September, two months after his Wimbledon debut.

Final candidate

On the list is also Tyson Fury – the reigning WBC world heavyweight champion.

Fury was on the list for the second time in a row, but declined to attend the ceremony.

He believes he doesn’t need the award to prove who he is, and has previously instructed lawyers to stop the BBC from picking him.

Current odds have Raducanu as favorite at the time of writing – any female winner will be the first since Zara Phillips 2006.
