We learn a lot about the other characters, but I feel like with Peacemaker we really just got to know who this guy is, what makes this douchebag so famous. I called John [Cena] right away and I said, ‘Hey, do you want to do this?’ And he said, “That’s right.”

“He is very much American today,” Gunn continued about his character The Peacemaker. “Part of him is that this guy has very different political beliefs than I have. It is possible to put him in an environment where he is in the modern world with a very different personality[s] And to be able to see them interact, I thought of another way of seeing what counts as a superhero TV show, so that we could deal with all of that. “

For Cena, Peace of The director has nothing but good things to share. “John and I have become incredibly close,” Gunn said of his star. “He’s one of the best people I know, and I’d say that as a human being, and he’s an incredibly talented actor.”
