‘GMFB’ breaks the potential of giants

With Giants training camp less than two weeks away, NFL Network’s ‘Good Morning Football’ program broke down exactly what a successful club season should look like. The first factor, of course, is playing starting midfielder Daniel Jones. Entering the final season of his contract after the club rejected his fifth-year option, the 25-year-old faces the prospect that he won’t return to the Giants next season if his play His is not improved. Jones hasn’t come across that easily, as he is playing under his third head coach in four seasons, but his play will need to improve significantly regardless.

Next, the show listed Saquon Barkley as a factor. Barkley, like Jones, didn’t play up to expectations, but that was due to injury. After a spectacular rookie season that earned him the NFL’s Offensive Rookie of the Year title, Barkley has suffered a number of injuries, missing 21 games over the past three seasons.

Finally, the program identified head coach Brian Daboll as the third most important factor. Daboll, a first-time head coach, brought about a cultural change in New York, introducing a more relaxed style of coaching as opposed to stressful, Patriotic style by former head coach Joe Judge. The cultural shift seemed set to succeed as the camp was about to get underway.

Bears-Patriots Trade May Affect Giants

On July 12, the Chicago Bears acquired wide receiver N’Keal Harry from the New England Patriots in exchange for a future seventh-round draft pick. The move could affect the Giants as Chicago has presumably exited the broad recorder market. New York is reportedly considering a cut to Darius Slayton, and even if they pursue commercial instead, Chicago doesn’t appear to be out of the picture as a destination. Additionally, Bleacher Report’s Ian Wharton weighed in on a possible trade for each team last month. As for the Giants, Wharton discussed trading Kenny Golladay for the Chicago Bears. That also seems out of the question.
