Ian Wright claims around £22m for the Tottenham star

Ian Wright has claimed it “makes no sense” to replace Liverpool striker Sadio Mane with someone like in-form Tottenham star Heung-Min Son. as he told Premier League Productions (04/16/22 at 11:50am).

The legendary forward compared Son to Liverpool’s standout striker, with the Spurs star being three months younger than Mane.

While Son and Tottenham had a day off in the Premier League yesterday, that was not the case for Mane, who scored a brace for Liverpool against Man City in the FA Cup semi-final.

Since helping Senegal win the Africa Cup of Nations, the 30-year-old has taken his game to the next level in Liverpool colors.

However, when Wright spoke highly of Son and what he brings to the table for Tottenham, he ended up being compared to Liverpool’s Mane.

“Mane is 29, which son is 29?” said Wright. “If you move Mane on and put another 29-year-old in there then it doesn’t make sense.

“You need someone younger. Here it could now work against Son because of his age. I think he fits into any top team with the way he plays and what he does.

“He still looks so fit and sharp. Doesn’t get that many injuries. The way he and Harry play Kane, he’s so hard to spot. As soon as the ball gets anywhere near Kane, it’s on its way. He is gone.”

Bought in 2015 for £22million (Guardian)Son was an excellent buy for Spurs and someone who is now just 13 years away from scoring 100 Premier League goals.

In his 226 league games, the South Korean has 87 goals and 50 assists – a total of 125 goals and 72 assists in his Tottenham career.

That compares to someone like Mane, who has a Premier League and Champions League winner’s medal in his cabinet.

The former Southampton star is already one of the Premier League’s 100 clubs – 108 goals from 257 league games and 45 assists.

Overall, Mane has recorded a staggering 115 goals and 45 assists in 259 Liverpool games for Mane, while his record at St Mary’s was 25 of 75 in all competitions.
