Ian Wright has revealed that whenever Tottenham forward Harry Kane takes a penalty he doesn’t think he’s going to miss. as he told ITV Sport.
On Saturday, England beat Switzerland 2-1 in a friendly at Wembley Stadium, with Tottenham’s number 9 leading the line.
The Three Lions secured victory after trailing 1-0 against the Swiss, Kane scoring the winning goal from the penalty spot.
It was the Tottenham player’s 49th goal for his country, putting him second in England’s all-time list with Sir Bobby Charlton.
When Wright was asked a “very important question” by ITV presenter Mark Pougatch about whether Kane is the best penalty taker he’s ever seen, the former Arsenal man released that answer.
“It’s the same as when Shearer used to take one,” Wright said. “I imagine they score.
“When he’s in front. I just wish he scores a goal. I don’t think he will miss.”
It’s only a matter of time before Kane becomes England’s all-time leading goalscorer.
Unless the 28-year-old goes on a fruitless career in the next few months, he should set the record himself ahead of the 2022 World Cup.
England still have a few UEFA Nations League games to go before Qatar as Kane is now four adrift of Wayne Rooney’s record.
Rooney scored his record goal at Wembley in front of a sold-out crowd and Kane is hoping to do the same if he breaks the record.
