Ian Wright has said that Gabriel Martinelli is performing with his breasts, as he told Premier League Productions.
The Arsenal legend added that Martinelli is ‘answering’ the manager and what he wants from his players.
On Saturday night, Martinelli scored a brace as Arsenal beat Leeds 4-1.
This came after the 20-year-old scored in his final game as the Gunners overcame West Ham in fourth place.
With Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Martinelli is stepping up to the top and showing fans he is the future.
Wright asks the player Martinelli is growing up with and is passionate about the player’s performance yesterday.
“When you have players like this, and in this form, then you get punished,” says Wright.
He added later: “It’s his sixth game on the rotation and he’s someone you have to tell what he’s doing is being the fulcrum of that team.
“I knew he was capable of that finish (first goal). What he is doing, while things are going well with Arsenal, when he comes back from injury and from the bench, is in a hurry to finish that kind of thing.
“Now, given the fact that Aubameyang is not in and around him. He’s got six games on the rotation, he knows he’s going to play. That kind of gives you a little, you walk with your chest up and your head held high. Now I’m a man. I’ll show them – this guy is answering what the manager wants now. ”
Martinelli has started five of Arsenal’s last six games and he has either scored or assisted in each of them.
The young Brazillian is riding on a wave and making sure Arsenal don’t miss out on their recent captaincy.
It’s been a tough road for a thriving young player, who may feel that he probably deserved more minutes under Arteta a lot sooner.
But if anything, the approach Arteta has used is proven right given how far he has come since the former midfielder was appointed head coach.
