Ian Wright says Conte has Tottenham players ‘on his side again’

Ian Wright has claimed Harry Kane was “everywhere” earlier in the season but Antonio Conte has now got him “back on the side” at Tottenham.

It was well-documented over the summer that Manchester City – who have since signed Erling Haaland – were looking to sign the Tottenham killer.

Nuno Espirito Santo was in charge of Spurs at the time as Kane failed to start the first few games after his late return from vacation.

The England captain struggled in the first half of the season but since Conte stepped foot in the dugout he has looked like his old self again.

Wright called Conte a “world-class” manager and touched on where Kane was at the start of the campaign, as he told Premier League Productions (05/19/22 at 13:10).

“First class manager and a world class manager,” Wright said of Conte.

“Then you add Harry Kane, who mentally I think was everywhere at the start of the season.

“You didn’t know what you were going to get everything that was going to happen with Manchester City.

“You’re pulling Harry Kane back to the side. Son plays like he’s playing. Bring in Kulusevski.”

HARRY KANE WILL VERY LIKELY TO STAY WITH CHAMPIONS LEAGUE-BOUND TOTTENHAM

Tottenham need an away point at Norwich City on the final day of the Premier League season and they will secure Champions League football – Wright says it would be the ‘Spursy of Spursy Things’ if they made a mistake now.

All of this will be music to fans’ ears, as many would have worried about Kane and Conte’s future had they missed it.

But Daniel Levy now has something really impressive to work with and if he gives his trophy-laden coach the right support, Spurs can take places next season and beyond.

For Kane, it’s all about winning that trophy and he can do that if Conte gets what he wants from the higher ups at Spurs.
