I’m A Celeb’s Owen Warner and Seann Walsh are open about their mental health

I’m A Celebrity fans were emotionally left behind after watching Owen Warner and Seann Walsh open up about their mental health and past failings on Saturday night’s episode.

The pair headed to the pool area to wash up after getting critters and gunk on them during Partner in Grime Bushtucker Trial.

But the conversation turned to how the couple had been getting on in the jungle so far, and Seann asked Owen if he’d found the time difficult.

The Hollyoaks actor, 23, admitted he had done it but felt better – and turned the question back to the comedian.

“Owen, do you find this difficult? The jungle adventure?’ Sean asked and Owen said, “I was, but not so much now. Why are you Sean?’

Sean said: “For me, there’s quite a lot of anxiety during the day. If I don’t know what’s coming, I don’t like it. I’m really panicking.’

Owen asked, “Is it always like this?” and Seann replied, “Oh god. That’s why I pay a woman a weekly fee to help me!’

The actor agreed that it’s good to talk to a professional about your feelings: “It’s good to have therapy, though.

“Like I always tell my buddies, I’d wholeheartedly recommend it, even if you think you’re healthy. As if it were so good to sit with someone, to let off air. Really helps you sort your head. And find out what’s going on and why it’s happening.’

Owen later said in the Bush Telegraph, “Something about being in here really taught me that it’s like wearing your heart on your sleeve, because there’s a good chance someone’s feeling the same.

“And that’s like something I’ll take with me forever. Now I usually hold my feelings close to my chest, but if you just talk about it most of the time, someone can relate to you.”

Sean then referenced his “horrific” experience following the Strictly Come Dancing cheating scandal.

When the comedian took part in the series with his professional partner Katya Jones in 2018, the couple kissed outside a pub – but Seann was in a long-term relationship – and Katya was married to fellow actress Neil Jones.

Both relationships then ended.

“Look, I just had such an awful experience the last time I did something like this, and then I came back … This is absolutely wonderful, but it brought that back.”

Owen lent his support: “But it’s good, now you have a second chance to deal with everything. It’s like you’re in a game and like you’re going to die and go back to the first level, it sucks. But I know how to do these levels. ‘

Speaking to the Bush Telegraph, Sean said, “He’s such a wise young man and he’s really articulate and I think he’s really emotionally intelligent.”

“Anyone who looks at someone’s past is on them,” added Owen.
