Imaginary trailer brings Blumhouse horror to cuddly teddy bears

Not content with turning board games, life-size dolls and animatronic animals into nightmares, Blumhouse has released the trailer for their next horror film Imaginarywhich features a murderous teddy bear ready to kill an entire family.

The film was co-written and directed by Jeff Wadlow. Imaginary is the story of an imaginary friend gone wrong. In the film, Jessica (DeWanda Wise) moves back into her parents’ home with her new family, including her stepdaughter Alice (Pyper Braun). Alice finds a teddy bear named Chauncy in the basement, with whom she begins to play games. This becomes more and more disturbing as she tells Jessica that the bear is really mad at her for leaving. It turns out that the bear is connected to Jessica’s imaginary childhood friend, who isn’t exactly happy that she left him alone.

The film also stars Tom Payne, Taegen Burns and Veronica Falcon and Betty Buckley. It was co-written with Greg Erb and Jason Oremland and produced by Jason Blum and Wadlow.

Blumhouse’s entire filmmaking strategy is to release as many horror films as possible, resulting in some instant classics such as: Exitsome box office wins like Five nights at Freddy’sand there are films that you don’t even remember Stephanie or whatever these things were, they were released on Hulu. The point is, there’s no telling where this piece will land on the Blumhouse spectrum. Chauncy could be her next Paranormal activity or The purge and we’ll see five more movies with him, or he’ll just be another footnote in their endless parade of horror films. It’s fair to say that this movie looks pretty scary, although the trailer seems to give a lot away, so we all already know that it’s not just about a crazy little girl, but that it’s actually a scary one great spirit acts.

Imaginary will be in theaters on March 8, 2024.
