Impressive looks of NBA players after the All-Star break

The wardrobe choices of NBA players can go viral as quickly as their highlights.

Some hoopers push boundaries more than others when it comes to fashion. Philadelphia 76ers guard James Harden is known for sparking conversations around his outfit. For example, February 15, when his special suit at Philly’s game against the Boston Celtics, the Twitterverse spoke.

Jarrett Allen of the Cleveland Cavaliers took a simpler approach during NBA All-Star Weekend with a gray hoodie, navy shorts, and gray sneakers. The casual combo leaves some viewers wanting more from the big man’s outfit.

“You know, it’s funny, because I thought I was fine,” Allen reply commented on his outfit during the NBA All-Star Media Day. “What do I do, wear a $5,000 necklace to a game? It’s just a casual outfit that I’m comfortable with, so let’s just go.”

After the All-Star break, several NBA stars have returned to their costumes. Ultra-cozy pieces, pieces that reference pop-culture legends, and more highlight stand-out looks from the second half of the year:

Aaron Gordon, Denver Nuggets – April 10, 2022

Gordon’s jacket in the team’s regular season final against the Los Angeles Lakers has surfaced on social media. The costume uses characters from the Disney animated series “The Proud Family” to honor the trio of Nuggets players who played with the team in the 2000s.

The jacket depicts siblings Gina, Nubia and Olei Gross, nicknamed the “Gross Sisters” on the show, reimagined as former Nuggets Allen Iverson, Carmelo Anthony, and Nenê. “Denver Thuggets Letterman Jacket” is by clothing designer Humans Uniquely Expression by clothing designer Hunter Huelle.

In 2006, Iverson was transferred from the 76ers to the Nuggets with the first two picks in 2007, Andre Miller and Joe Smith. Denver also received Ivan McFarlin. AI joins Anthony, who is in his fourth season with the team. Nene is fifth.

“Their fast-paced and solid basketball style mixed with off-court swagger, style and attitude earned them the nickname ‘Denver Thuggets’,” reads the item’s product description. “I see this as an opportunity to team up with the unforgettable Gross Sisters, always sporting a white t-shirt under their own navy blue ensemble.”

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Oklahoma City Thunder – April 5, 2022

Gilgeous-Alexander ended his third season with the Thunder sidelined with an ankle injury. He played in 56 games, averaging 24.5 points, 5.9 assists and 5 rebounds per game. Judging by his outfit, he can clearly understand the musical legends from the Sooner State.

The Thunder point guard wears a patterned t-shirt featuring country star Reba McEntire. The Grammy Award-winning artist was born and raised in McAlester, Oklahoma. McEntire has sold more than 56 million records worldwide and starred in a television show bearing her name for six seasons (2001-2007). She is one of only four artists in history to receive a National Artistic Achievement Award from the United States Congress, according to her website.

Ja Morant, Memphis Grizzlies – April 1, 2022

Morant took a promising leap forward for the NBA superstar by boosting most of his stats and leading the Memphis Grizzlies to a franchise-best 56 wins this year. He’s been making headlines on the internet for his impressive plays and eye-catching combos throughout the season. His April 1 clothing combinations excel in the lively category, wearing a multicolored shirt and Louis Vuitton shoes.

This isn’t the first time Morant has worn the haute couture brand. On March 24, he donned a Louis Vuitton workwear shirt and trainer sneakers to Memphis’ game against the Indiana Pacers.

Kyrie Irving, Brooklyn Nets – March 13, 2022

Although Irving didn’t play for the Nets against the New York Knicks on March 13, his jacket made headlines on Twitter that night.

Irving appeared alongside to support his team wearing a piece by Belgian designer Walter Van Beirendonck. Irving’s jacket has a graphic on the back, with the words “Countries, Empires, and Worlds” on the front. Fans across NBA Twitter asked about how they could get their hands on the item during the competition.

Unfortunately for the hopeful buyers, the piece of clothing is no longer being produced. This jacket is part of Van Beirendonck’s “Worlds of Sun and Moon” winter collection in 2018.

Myles Turner, Indiana Pacers – March 4, 2022

Turner did not play for the Pacers on March 4 against the Detroit Pistons because of a leg injury. However, the hoodie with extra long sleeves, which he wore that night, drew comparisons to the similar suit worn by Washington Wizards guard Kyle Kuzma.

On November 22, 2021, Kuzma wore an oversized pink sweater that sparked a reaction from former Lakers teammates LeBron James, Anthony Davis and many other players around the NBA.

After the match, Turner wanted to know who had the most baggy look.

Steph Curry, Golden State Warriors – February 24, 2022

The NBA’s all-time 3-point leader and his jacket caused a stir on social media ahead of his game against the Portland Trail Blazers. Curry wears a leather jacket from the Romeo Hunte fashion house in New York.

Former Warriors teammate Festus Ezeli and fellow Splash Brother Klay Thompson have their own reactions to Curry’s pregame skin.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander – February 24, 2022

Temperatures for the February 24 game against the Phoenix Suns had a high of 22 degrees and a low of 14 degrees. Gilgeous-Alexander makes sure to dress more cozy for the conditions. He arrived in a fleece hoodie that nearly covered his face, teamed with a yellow vest by fashion label Entire Studios. This is Gilgeous-Alexander’s first time competing in 10 games after spraining his ankle.

The point guard’s suitability may have contributed to his hot night of offense. Gilgeous-Alexander finished the game with the highest 32 points in the game with 59% of shots from the field.
