Incredible moment almost EVERY car in Daytona is thrown through an oval during a rain storm

Here’s the moment nearly every car wrecked in Sunday’s final race of the NASCAR regular season at Daytona.

The pile-up took down 13 cars on the 22nd lap of the Coke Zero 400 Cup Series at Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Florida when a massive rainstorm hit the track.

Racer Austin Dillon managed to slip through the carnage unscathed, jumping from 16th to first place. After a three-hour rain delay, he won the race and secured a position in the NASCAR playoffs.

After the massive wreck, many racers criticized NASCAR officials for allowing a dangerous situation to occur, saying they gave adequate warning to reschedule the race before the wreck happened.

Two of the leading cars collided with the barrier along the route while another swerved in front of the group, forcing a couple to crash hard into its side.

As the leading cars began to pile on top of each other and slide sideways down the track, the racers in the center and rear of the field tried to avoid collisions.

Plumes of smoke rose from the tarmac as cars slammed on the brakes, swerved and collided at high speed.

According to The Charlotte Observer, Dillon’s car was one of the few to get through unscathed, and footage from his car showed him deftly navigating the carnage as cars around him collided.

Racer Danny Hamlin, who was at the head of the field before losing control of his vehicle, said race officials could have prevented the wreck.

“Better officiate, that’s all we can do,” he said when asked how the crash could have been avoided. “We will learn from it, I’m sure.”

Justin Haley agreed, saying the racers took several corners around the track in heavy rain, but officials did not call out a delay.

“They had about a full lap to call out a warning and they tore up a lot of race cars,” he said. “That was pretty unacceptable.”
