Independent retailer announces plans to close

Rainford-based Ellamora, which sold clothing and gifts, will cease trading at the end of the month.

The closure is seen as a blow to the local economy and reflects the difficulties many retailers are facing.

The shop on Church Road in the village of Rainford opened in 2016.

‘Difficult Decision’

In a statement, owner Ali Tyrer, the owner, said the trade has proven really challenging.

She wrote: “I am sorry to say that I have made the difficult decision to close Ellamora, which is not easy at all.

“I’ve loved being a part of the Rainford community for the last 6.5 years, attracting visitors to our and other local businesses and making a difference where we can.

“It has been a privilege to have looked after so many dear customers both in store and through our website – many have become friends and I am grateful for your loyalty and support over the years.”

Ali, who ran the former Tyrers store in St Helens, added: “Like most small businesses we’ve found trading to be really challenging, especially of late and it’s likely to continue for some time – now it’s feeling.” feels like the right time to quit and start a new chapter and enjoy quality family time.

St. Helens Star:

“We will remain open until the end of the month to finalize the deal and of course it would be nice to see you before then.”
