Injuries won’t stop Newcastle from signing £35m West Ham target, talks ongoing
Premier League fighters Newcastle United have not been offered a potential £35m deal for Benoit Badiashile despite the Monaco defender’s recent thigh injury, as reported. RMC Sport.
Sir Alex Ferguson once said that a good defense will win you titles. However, a lousy defense often leads to relegation.
Up to now, only 2 teams in the Premier League have conceded more than 40 goals.
And it’s no surprise that both, Newcastle United and Norwich City, was stuck in the relegation zone, the water stepping on it like a leak from every angle.
Fortunately for Newcastle, at least they have a financial opportunity to fix perhaps the biggest problem facing new manager Eddie Howe.
Since the beginning of the year, the Saudi-backed Magpies have shown an interest in Diego Carlos, James Tarkowski, Sven Botman, Nico Schlotterbeck and more.
Badiashile was also within their sights.
And, despite a six-week break with a thigh injury, talks between Newcastle and Monaco are ongoing, even if the Tynesides are yet to make an offer to buy a valuable defender in the area. 35 million pounds.
Will Benoit Badiashile leave Monaco for Newcastle United?
RMC Sport did not specify how much Newcastle are willing to pay for Badiashile.
However, they claim that the Warblers are poised to make a ‘significant amount’, something that could see Badiashile replace Joelinton as the club’s record signing.
The France Under-21 international, dubbed the second generation of Raphael Varane, is also a target for Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United.
Not to mention one Wolverhampton Wanderers are ready to spend money on long-serving Willy Boly in the January transfer window.
And, according to FootMercato, Monaco is planning for life without Badiashile.
Philippe Clement, who was hired to replace Niko Kovac at club Principality, could reunite with his former Club Brugge goalkeeper Stanley Nsoki if Badiashile leaves before February 1.
