Is a Pennsylvania factory making ammunition for Ukraine?

A Pennsylvania factory produces ammunition for the Ukrainian military.
In February 2023, videos circulated online claiming that a Pennsylvania munitions factory was making artillery for Ukraine in its war against invading Russian forces. The videos we examined were real and accurate.
“A former railroad equipment factory in Pennsylvania switched its activities to producing ammunition for the Ukrainian armed forces,” one said Twitter post called. “They work day and night to keep up with what they call the requirements of the treaty, which is obviously Ukraine.”
According to a. repaired steam locomotives a century ago ZEIT article from early February. The article also states that the plant, which is owned by the US Army and operated by General Dynamics Corp. is tasked with manufacturing over 11,000 shells per month and operates a weekend shift five days a week. (It was estimated that Ukraine fired 6,000 to 7,000 artillery shells per day.)
Also in early February, NPR’s Pittsburgh station reported that US Army Secretary Christine Wormuth toured the plant with Sen. Bob Casey, D-Pa. Casey said of the facility, “The best of America is right here in Scranton, Pennsylvania.”
The article also said the Army is expected to hire about 40 new employees and invest over $240 million at the plant to upgrade equipment.
The Pennsylvania facility is not the only US facility making ammunition for Ukraine. weapons and equipment made in Arkansas and Iowa. The Army told reporters in January that a new plant was being built in Garland, Texas.
