Streamers from Amazon Prime Daisy Jones and the Six has far exceeded audience expectations with its outstanding way of bringing the 1970s into the 2020s in all aspects of music and entertainment. Based on the popular book of the same name, the documentary-style show has given audiences a sense of what music was really like in the ’70s and bears close resemblances to legendary rock band Fleetwood Mac.

Formed in 1967, Fleetwood Mac has grown into one of the better known British rock bands still together after all these years. However, like Daisy Jones & The Six, Fleetwood Mac disbanded at some point after years of top hits and solo successes by individual members.
It’ll be interesting to see the reasons behind Daisy Jones & The Six’ split after years of popularity as the show goes on – but watching the show will make fans grateful that Fleetwood Mac is still making music after all these years might.
Writer and Producer of Daisy Jones and the Six Taylor Jenkins Reid has mentioned that Fleetwood Mac was her inspiration for writing the book. In fact, both bands are more alike than you might think.

After speculation on social media, a blog post from 2019 resurfaced, in which several news outlets such as news week confirmed Fleetwood Mac as the inspiration behind it Daisy Jones and the Six. Taylor was attracted to Fleetwood Mac’s 1997 reunion show on MTV, particularly during her performance of “Landslide.”
“When I decided to write a book about rock ‘n’ roll, I kept coming back to that moment of Lindsey (Buckingham) watching Stevie (Nicks) sing ‘Landslide,'” she wrote. “I wanted to write a story about how the lines between real life and performance can blur, about how singing about old wounds could keep them fresh.”

In Daisy Jones and the Six, the idea of the band came from high schooler Graham Dunne (Will Harrison), who convinced his friends to join the band. From there, Graham’s brother Billy (Sam Claflin) became his advisor, seeing potential in every member. Gradually he became a member of the band himself and from then on it was rock ‘n’ roll history.

Fleetwood Mac hitmakers Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks met in high school, where Lindsey eventually invited Stevie to be the lead singer of the band Fritz. After Fritz broke up, the two continued to work together. When Lindsey was asked to join Fleetwood Mac, he insisted Stevie join too. The group voted for Lindsey, and like Daisy Jones & The Six, the rest was rock ‘n’ roll history.

Some of Fleetwood Mac’s most discussed topics involve various relationships. Stevie was a big part of this issue, as she had a long-standing relationship with Lindsey and later had an affair with band co-founder Mick Fleetwood. However, it’s important not to discount the failing marriage between John and Christine McVie.
However, only Fleetwood Mac could use emotional stress and turmoil to his advantage. While it pulled her down, it didn’t bother her music.

Daisy Jones & The Six relationships are completely different. However, Billy and Camila’s (Camila Morrone) relationship seemed simple in the first episode and complicated in the next. It only got harder based on the potential love triangle with Billy, Camila and Eddie (Josh Whitehouse). It’s messy, confusing, yet addicting to watch. Not to mention it puts Stevie’s relationships with Lindsey and Mick back in the spotlight.
New episodes of Daisy Jones and the Six are only available on Amazon Prime on Fridays. The final episode of the miniseries is set to premiere on March 24, 2023.
