In early April 2021, readers inquired about a viral video titled “Train Tackles Bendy Tracks.” It reportedly showed a real train running on treacherous tracks that appeared to be in need of repairs. The video also appeared online as “the worst train tracks in the world”.
The video was first released on March 31, 2017, which perhaps explains its reappearance in early April 2021. Some publishers recycle content annually on the same date as previous years.
We found them Story rich video At Yahoo! and also @TheSun on Twitter. Besides, it had appeared several just on the UNILAD Facebook pages.
It is true that the video showed a real train negotiating real, winding tracks. However, the first 52 seconds featured videos that were sped up in the editing process. In reality, the first 52 seconds originally lasted six minutes. It had been sped up to run about seven times faster – perhaps to save viewers about five minutes of waiting and watching.
The video was published through to YouTube Scott Taipalewho added the following description:
PREX 1603 leads PREX 3054 and blasts down the 5th Ward of the former Wabash Railroad! Lol actually I compressed 6 minutes of the train crawling down the tracks! This is only the third time I have had a pair on one of their trains so I was delighted to see them. The line was last the Maumee and Western Railroad (MAW) before being purchased by Pioneer RailCorp. Maintenance on this section of the line has been deferred for decades. Pioneer did a great job of rehabilitating the worst parts, but some bags like this still exist.
A similar Video also posted by Taipale showed another train on bad tracks:
We also noticed a third one Video posted by Taipale on YouTube, entitled “Train Derailment on ND&W Railway”. It showed a boxcar derailing on similarly “curved” tracks. The first part of the video has also been sped up:
Taipale said in the description that the engine decoupled from the derailed car and drove on without him.
In summary, the video showed a real train negotiating curved tracks. However, the beginning of the video was sped up by the video creator.
