Jack Wilshere has spoken talkSPORT over James Maddison after Gareth Southgate’s Arsenal goal was ruled out again.
What’s the matter?
Well, it’s been said that Mikel Arteta is keen on bringing the Leicester No10 to the Emirates Stadium.
Now Wilshere – one of Arsenal’s own – has spoken out about the Leicester star after missing UEFA Nations League friendlies against England.
The 30-year-old said: “It’s very tough, especially for Maddison. It has to be personal. Created opportunities too, he’s sixth in the entire Premier League. Sixth!”
Maddison surpassed both Jack Grealish and Phil Foden in goals and assists last season so it’s really puzzling why Southgate continues to omit him.
Arsenal may have to spend a fortune on James Maddison
In our view, the Gunners may need to break their club transfer record if they want to bring Maddison to north London.
As we’ve seen in the past, Leicester can be very stubborn in the transfer market.
With Maddison on a contract at King Power Stadium that runs until June 2024, Brendan Rodgers is in a good position to demand whatever he wants from his star playmaker.
Whatever happens between him and Arsenal it would be criminal for Southgate to let Maddison back out if he continues to perform in this way.
In other news, Liverpool have an opportunity to sign the star they wanted after the Fekir fiasco – in our view
