Jackie Goldschneider opens up about her Real Housewives of New Jersey demotion.
during one Interview with people which was released on December 21, Goldschneider explained exactly why her role was changed to “girlfriend of” instead of full-time this season. Last season, Goldschneider began seeking treatment for her 18-year-old eating disorder, which she documented on camera, which she says played a big part in why she decided to take a step back.
“Of course, when Bravo approached me about casting for season 13, I was very excited to be a part of the show again because I love the show,” Goldschneider told the outlet. “But my recovery hasn’t been what I expected. It moved very slowly. I was still being triggered by stress and still needing a lot of intensive therapy.”
Goldschneider said of the Bravo network: “They have been so supportive. And while that was a really hard pill to swallow and it was hard for me to step back a bit after being such a big part of the show for so many years, I really knew that was probably the best solution.”
Viewers can catch the season 13 premiere of The Real Housewives of New Jersey on Tuesday, February 7 at 9 p.m. Eastern Time on Bravo.
Jackie Goldschneider enjoyed being a “friend of” this season
While talking with peopleGoldschneider admitted she enjoyed being a “friend of” this past season of The Real Housewives of New Jersey.
“It was really the sweet spot for me, being a friend,” Goldschneider told the outlet. “I’ve had a killer season and other than seeing the poster without my face on it – which is a bit of an ego punch – I really don’t feel like there was that much of a difference between this season or any other season different season for me as far as it’s in the mix. It was just a lot less stressful.”
Jackie Goldschneider has spoken out about her eating disorder before
This isn’t the first time Goldschneider has opened up about how her eating disorder is affecting her. When speaking to Us weekly In April 2022, Goldschneider revealed more about her fight.
“The eating disorder controlled everything,” Goldschneider told the outlet at the time. “It really changes everything in your life.”
The RHONJ star continued: “It was a terrible secret. It was terrible for me to keep it [it quiet] for so long. … I had been trying for a really long time to start [a] to recover [program] and I’ve just never been able to do it. I was so scared around it and never got to talk to anyone because it’s so embarrassing.”
At the time, Goldschneider also gave the magazine an update on her recovery and progress.
“Parts of it were really joyful, the parts where I’m learning to eat new foods, and that was joy for me. What I didn’t enjoy is my body,” said Goldschneider. “I work a lot on not defining myself by my weight and not putting so much emphasis on my height and external validation.”
