James Dolan, owner of AMC Networks, names his WIFE as new CEO after they split six years ago

Just months into the former AMC Networks CEO’s tenure, Chairman James Dolan has appointed his wife Kristin to the position as the couple remain on “good terms” despite splitting six years ago.
Kristian will take the helm on February 27 and has previously served on AMC’s board of directors and has worked closely with the company. He is an industry veteran and most recently CEO of 605, a data analytics company that measures viewership for television channels.
The 56-year-old is expected to lead a “corrective course” at the company as they struggle to navigate the streaming era, which is seeing its market value fall 80 percent in five years, according to WSJ.
The Dolans split in 2018 after 15 years of marriage when they expressed that they could not continue a romantic partnership, they would continue their “relationship as business partners and co-parents.”

“I look forward to bringing my extensive experience — in programming, cable operations and most recently data usage to redesign television advertising — to leverage AMC Networks’ strong assets to drive the company’s next phase of growth and enhance shareholder value for years to come.” , Kristin said in a press release on Wednesday.
Kristian held various marketing roles at AMC early in her career when it was still known as Rainbow Media.
She also spent 16 years in various positions at Cablevisions Systems Corp., the cable television company once owned by the Dolan family before it was sold to Altice in 2016.
In November, Christina Spade resigned from her position as CEO less than three months after being promoted to the position.
Within the same week, AMC informed its employees that it would face a significant round of layoffs, amounting to about 20 percent of its American workforce, CNBC previously reported.
In a memo to employees in November, James Dolan said it was the company’s belief that “streaming would have curbed cord loss,” WSJ reported.
“This was not the case. We’re a content company first, and the mechanisms for monetizing content are in disarray,” he told employees in a memo at the time.
After Spade resigned, restructuring measures were announced, with the company saying they are “aimed at delivering significant cost reductions in light of the ‘cord cutting’ and related impact being felt across the media industry and the general economic outlook “.
This restructuring is expected to be completed by the end of the year.
More than half of AMC Networks’ revenue comes from its traditional pay-TV package, which is bleeding out subscribers as customers opt for cheaper streaming services.

In addition to the channel known for content like The Walking Dead and Breaking Bad, the company also owns streaming services like AMC+ and the horror-focused Shudder.
The company’s flagship streaming service, AMC+, costs $9 per month and features popular series from the AMC channel.
AMC forecasts that its services will reach 20 to 25 million subscribers by the end of 2025.
The third quarter added 300,000 subscribers, bringing the total paying subscriber base to 11.1 million.
AMC Networks is considered a target for larger media companies looking to expand their libraries.
As the company sees a reshuffle in its management, the partnership has literally seen the former couple back in bed since their seemingly amicable split in 2018.
In a statement to Page Six at the time of the split, they wrote, “While this decision was a difficult one, we have great respect for one another and will continue our relationship as business partners and co-parents.”
“Our children remain the center of our lives and their well-being is our top priority. With that in mind, we sincerely ask that her privacy and the privacy of our family be respected during this transitional period in our lives.’
They have two sons together and Jim has four sons from a previous marriage.
