What was said?
Carragher is analyzing Arsenal’s attack.
“I just wanted to show you the problems it caused for opposing teams in that position. You can see Lacazette there, he comes in very deep and that’s very reminiscent of where we see Phil Foden sometimes,” Carragher said.
“As we often see with Man City and now with Arsenal, you have five fronts. Look at Lacazette, he’s really deeper than Xhaka and Odegaard in their position.”
Pep Effect
Mikel Arteta was studied by Pep Guardiola at Manchester City, and you are certainly seeing that at Arsenal.
Indeed, it is no coincidence that Lacazette plays in a similar style to Phil Foden, and for that matter, there are comparisons drawn between Jack Grealish and Emile Smith Rowe while Riyad Mahrez and Bukayo Saka are neither. same.
This tactical setup is clearly something that Arteta and Guardiola both agree on.
