Jamie Carragher shares the best moment of 2021

Jamie Carragher has said that Brentford’s win over Arsenal on the opening day of the season was his highlight of 2021, as he told Sky Sports Monday Night Football.
The former defender chose that moment because it was also the first time fans were allowed back into stadiums at full capacity after the previous campaign saw matches being played behind closed doors.

It’s not just the buzz of football returning for the new campaign and supporters being allowed to return to their seats.
But it was also a case of a newly-promoted dog in Brentford, treated as little dogs in London, going head to head with one of the capital’s top dogs.
Carragher admits that ‘Arsenal fans won’t like’ he reminds them, but here’s why he picked Brentford’s win over Mikel Arteta’s men at this time of the year coming to an end .
Carragher said: “Mine is Friday Night Football. “First game of the season at Brentford v Arsenal.
“Just to have the fans back. It just made me realize how much we missed it. For a long time, it felt like we were watching another sport without the fans in the stadium.
“Arsenal fans won’t like me saying that. But when you have a new team is promoted. Energy. We love going to Brentford. We continued to see Watford again on Friday night. The atmosphere was wonderful.
“I just miss their support so much. I have been involved in football all my life. What we’ve been through, it’s been difficult for everyone. But first thing, with everyone back, it’s just brilliant. It’s like a night out. It’s a great way to start the season. ”
A lot has changed since Arteta put on those coveted performances.
Not only is he backed by the board, but now he has a chance to secure a place in the Champions League despite finishing bottom of the table with zero points after three games.
This young, vibrant, fearless and attack-oriented squad has been assembled by Arteta and perhaps now one can believe the word ‘trust in the process’.
Of course, there’s still a long way to go, but Arsenal seem to be on the right track to where they want to be and that is going back to Europe and then moving on and growing from there.
