It’s like the Premier League title race after Liverpool drew 2-2 with Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium tonight.
This was definitely the biggest game of the season so far – and it was arguably the most exciting.
Sadio Mane saved a point for Liverpool early in the second half after Manchester City went into the break 2-1 after goals from Kevin De Bruyne and Gabriel Jesus.
Diogo Jota had equalized between the two goals of the hosts for Jürgen Klopp’s team.
Here’s Jamie Carragher’s immediate reaction to the result:
He continued Heaven: “I think Jürgen Klopp will be satisfied. Of course he would have wanted three points before the game, but the second half showed how they got back into the game from a 2-1 deficit. They’ll be happy with a point as Liverpool weren’t at the races in the first half. They deserve credit for how they responded.”
Carrager is right
Liverpool boss Klopp would have snatched your hand away at half-time if you’d offered him a point.
In the first 45 minutes, the Reds were mostly second best and to be honest, the Citizens could have gone into the break with a lead of more than a goal – and probably should have.
However, Liverpool showed why they won the Premier League in 2020 with an immediate response from Mane after the break.
Klopp’s side remain a point behind Manchester City with seven games to go.
The title decider ultimately decided nothing, as it turns out.
Liverpool’s next seven league games are Manchester United [H]everton [H]Neuburg [A]Tottenham [H]AstonVilla [A]Southampton [A] and wolves [H].
As for City, their last seven games: Brighton [H]Watford [H]leeds [A]Neuburg [H]west ham [A]wolves [H]AstonVilla [H].
