The article includes a fake quote from Leto which reads:

It was written by someone named Mark Roebuck and is dated April 7, 2022. Roebuck’s other items focus on video games, entertainment, and satirical or humorous pieces. below a heading“Hey, why don’t you prick like me?”
The day before the article is published Leto posted this on Instagram:

On his LinkedIn pageRoebuck admits to being a satirical writer, saying, “Contributed over 200 satirical articles to The Hard Times.”
Some people caught on quickly. “I know this is satire but it’s getting harder and harder to say these days,” one person wrote in the comments thread. “Imagine if that were real,” wrote another. Another commenter said: “Can you imagine sitting at home reading this and thinking it’s true!? LOL and I’m 10000% sure SOME people did that!”
Hard-Drive.net website contains this statement: “Hard Drive is a very real video game news site that you should not question. Just take the information as truth and move on.” It offers this story:
