Jenelle Evans wishes she’d never gotten one of her tattoos
Teen Mom 2 alumna Jenelle Evans rang in the new year with husband David Eason, and the couple shared theirs Countdown to midnight on tik tok. Though much of the video featured the couple getting ready for their New Year’s Eve party, taking pictures and sharing a kiss at midnight, one fan focused on one of Evans’ tattoos (which reads “YOLO” in italics on her chest). Comments that prompted a response from the star.
“Ok but the Yolo act still makes a big murder just saying,” the fan wrote, to which Evans replied, “Oh my god I wish I had never done that 😂”.
Here’s what you need to know.
Jenelle Evans has had a “YOLO” tattoo for over a decade
Jenelle Evans got her “YOLO” tattoo over a decade ago in 2012 PopCrush. This year, the popularity of “YOLO” tattoos rose after rapper Drake popularized the phrase (which stands for “You Only Live Once”) in his song “The Motto.” Evans was 20 at the time and made it clear that she didn’t get the tattoo because of the Drake song. tweet“I got the tatt because it’s a good quote, not because of the song #getreal” at the time.
Nowadays, however, Evans has changed her tune. The MTV star previously did a TikTok in February 2021 where she responded to the prompt, “What’s the dumbest tattoo you’ve ever gotten?” with a clip of her “YOLO” tattoo while Drake’s “The Motto” played in the background, as a nod to the tattoo’s inspiration. Many fans in the comments section of this post thought the tattoo said “JACE” after Evans’ first son, whose father, Andrew Lewis, was absent for most of his life. This prompted Evans to correct fans in the comments, writing, “Anyone that says YOLO on it.”
A fan first noticed Evans’ “YOLO” tattoo in her New Year’s Eve video and shared a screenshot Reddit, which prompted fans to offer their opinions on the tattoo, with one fan writing, “Yeah I remember when that happened and it’s only gotten funnier and more criminal. I want to say it was 2012”.
Fans have slammed Jenelle Evans’ tattoos in the past
Fans have been quick to challenge Jenelle Evans’ tattoos in the past, even if her ink is temporary.
In November 2022, Evans shared a video of her makeup removal routine with TikTok, and fans noticed the mermaid tattoos that were visible on her forearms. Evans asked fans in the comments if they thought her mermaid tattoos were real, writing, “Question: do you all think this is a real sleeve tattoo to begin with? 😂💀” and while the reaction to TikTok has been generally positive, fans took up the discussion on Reddit and were much more critical of the tattoos.
One fan, who doesn’t yet have the full context, wrote: “When did she get the mermaid tattoo?” It looks like a temporary tattoo that my 6 year old daughter would love to have lol.” Evans later clarified in a YouTube video that the tattoos were actually mermaids made for kids.
