Jessica Chastain shares her reaction to the viral photo of Nicole Kidman excited to see her at the Oscars

Jessica Chastain shared her feelings in the photo of Nicole Kidman looking excited to see her at the Oscars, which was misinterpreted as a reaction to the infamous slap in the face.

The 45-year-old actress was asked by virtual fans about the photo of Australian actress Nicole, 55, from the Academy Awards in March during a visit to Watch What Happens Live on Thursday, which was clouded by Will Smith, who hosted Chris Rock slapped.

“So Jessica… what was your reaction to everyone who thought the viral photo of Nicole Kidman freaking out at the Oscars last year was because of the slap when she was really really happy to see you?” asked virtual fans Lindsay and Sandy.

“Oh, it’s so cute. Because I thought it was the slap too. Because I saw the picture and they went through all the reactions and then it came out that she saw me coming in. She’s so cute,” Jessica said.

“I walked up to her and melted at her feet that night,” she added.

Andy, 54, asked Jessica what was going through her mind during the slapping incident at the Oscars, where she won Best Actress for her work in the biopic The Eyes Of Tammy Faye.

“Wild,” Jessica said.

She explained how she had a prime seat alongside Denzel Washington, 68, and Will, 54, and his wife Jada Pinket Smith, 51, while Chris, 57, was also on stage nearby.

“I thought for a while it would be a little. That’s what I couldn’t quite grasp. And I only realized afterwards that it was a real slap in the face. It was bizarre,” Jessica said.

Jessica has been on the Bravo talk show promoting her Showtime miniseries George & Tammy in which she portrays Tammy Wynette alongside Michael Shannon, 48, as George Jones.

Andy praised Tammy for the chemistry between her and Michael in the miniseries about the legendary country singers.

‘Thanks. We worked together about 10 years ago, we did a film called Take Shelter. And Georgette Jones, their daughter, she was on the set with us and it was based on her book. It was a lot of pressure,” Jessica said.

Andy asked Jessica if she was aware that many people wanted her to portray Celia St. James in a 2017 film adaptation of the historical novel The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo.
