A cruel world

You’ll notice one of the players they’ve released is the same player they signed back on Thursday, July 21.

The Jets have removed former Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Craig James in a corresponding squad move after adding several new players to the fold.

James is predicted to slip at the fourth or fifth retracement on the depth chart. He is also said to be an important piece of the puzzle in special teams.

The addition raises serious concerns about the future of full-back, special teammate and captain Justin Hardee. Though it all seems like misplaced fear at least for now.

Unfortunately, James never got the chance to play, and that was due to a “non-football related” injury according to the NFL’s trading report.

The NFL is tough business and there will be a lot of roster shuffle in the coming weeks.

One more camp arm

After hosting former CFL defender Chris Streveler for the second time in six months, the Jets officially added him to their rotation before camp.

That now offers four quarterbacks for green and white with Zach Wilson, Joe Flacco, Mike White and Streveler all fighting.

Wilson will be QB1, Flacco is likely to be pegged as QB2, and White will be the person to approve the development. Streveler may just be an arm in the camp, but he’ll have a chance to impress and possibly take a spot on the training team.

Though if White were to be transferred due to injury to another defender in the league, perhaps Streveler could then move up another notch in the hierarchy.

The Jets also officially announced the signing of former USFL standout player Rashard Davis and the re-signing of attacking forward Isaiah Williams.

Davis is a talented comeback specialist who can provide some great depth behind Braxton Berrios. Williams will bring some needed beef to the inside of the line of attack.

In a series of corresponding squad moves, the Jets also eliminated James (non-football designation) and attacking striker Dru Samia (physical failure).

Though the biggest name dropped was DJ Montgomery, who attended a series of offseason rehearsals hosted by Zach Wilson.

Although making the list with all the other talent in this position will always be a long shot.

At least by releasing him now at the start of camp, Montgomery will have a much better chance of starting somewhere else pre-season than being let go mid-season.
