NFL rookies in 2022 are making way more money than they used to.
Back in April, the New York Jets selected running back Breece Hall after moving up to 36th overall in the second round. The former product of the State of Iowa were the team’s highest drafted RB in over 31 years.
That kind of story comes with a nice paycheck.
In front of the training camp Halle signs his Standard 4-year rookie contract worth more than $9 million. Over 66 percent of the contract was guaranteed at signing ($6.3 million to be exact).
Breece Hall invests heavily in Jets paycheck
Typically, after signing their first contract with life-changing money, NFL rookies are asked by the media, what will your first big purchase be?
We now know what that answer is for Hall.
Apparently, once Hall was drafted, he wanted to receive a “trophy” to celebrate his draft, per TMZ.
So he went to Al the Jeweler based locally in Totowa, New Jersey. Al specializes in “high-end jewelry and watches” and has a long history of making bespoke items.
Al went to work with a beautiful diamond encrusted chain with his initials BH and a top of the cap with his nickname “Breece the Beast”.
TMZ provided the intricate details of the necklace:
- Cuban link chain
- 35 carats of diamonds
- 25 carat baguette and round cut diamonds
- Ruby claws and markings
Although there was no specific price listed for the item, with some research we were able to create a rough estimate.
If you add up the details we know, this necklace costs at least over $82,500, not including the labor that went into it as a custom order.
On the other side of the coin, the high-end set price was $652,500.
This is the same jeweler who made several custom diamond sauce bottles for fellow rookie Ahmad Gardner.
Breece Hall is about to erupt
Through three regular season games, Hall has been really solid:
- 112 rushing yards
- 101 receiving yards
- A touchdown
- 5.3 yards per rush
He is on a running back by committee with Michael Carter and when the two were called up they were effective.
However, Hall appears close to breaking out a long run for a score. We’ve seen it throughout training camp, and there’s no better example than the Atlanta Falcons training together than him cut it open North and South for the 75+ yard touchdown score:
The talent is obvious and inevitably he will take on the lion’s share of that backfield workload.
Carter did a really good job of reminding everyone that he should still be a piece of the puzzle and will never go away. MC1’s ability to not go under on first contact is invaluable and at a time when everyone wants to prolong football life, having two boys is never a bad thing.
The Jets are up against a really nice first-world problem, but set your alarm because a Hall Breakout game is coming sooner rather than later.
