Jill Biden insists she loves stepson Hunter under fire

First lady Jill Biden insisted she unconditionally loves her battered stepson Hunter in a rare one-on-one interview.

President Biden’s wife was asked in a sit-down interview with CNN’s Arlette Saenz about an ongoing investigation into Hunter Biden’s taxes and whether he had filed a fraudulent form while trying to buy a gun.

She suggested that she doesn’t think the ongoing investigation will affect her husband’s decision to stand for re-election in 2024, noting, “We’re dealing with it, I think, by just having a different perspective.

“I mean, I love Hunter,” Jill said. “I’ll support him wherever I can and that’s how I see things.”

But the interview came as Republican lawmakers allege that more than a dozen “whistleblowers” have provided the FBI with “potentially criminal” information about Hunter Biden.

On Wednesday, Senator Chuck Grassley, a Republican from Iowa, told Attorney General Merrick Garland that the Justice Department needs to investigate the president’s son, who was the subject of a federal tax investigation and a possible false statement on a gun purchase form.

“Recent proprietary whistleblower disclosures to my office indicate that at one point the Justice Department and FBI had over a dozen sources providing potentially criminal information regarding Hunter Biden,” said Grassley, who has long been associated with whistleblowers in the US Senate has to do.

He and Sen. Ron Johnson, a Wisconsin Republican, previously suggested that the Justice Department investigate public corruption.

They wrote a letter containing 220 pages of bank documents just days before the November 2020 election.

However, Garland said he had “promised to place Hunter Biden’s matter in the hands of the US Attorney for Delaware.

Republican Texas Sen. Ted Cruz also brought up the Hunter Biden investigation in an angry Q&A session, in which he accused Garland and the Justice Department of bias in the Jan. 6 review of Trump and classified documents.

“I think you would very much like to impeach Donald J. Trump,” he told Garland, despite his repeated statements that he was trying to keep a low profile and avoid interference. He has appointed special counsel in both matters.

Cruz accused the DOJ of disclosing information about the Hunter Biden investigation as “predicate” in the indictment against Trump, demonstrating impartiality, and proving that the department is “impartial.”

He then asked that the Hunter investigation not focus on the president’s son’s struggles with addictions and instead focus on “links to his father and potential public corruption.” This is the matter of public interest.’

He called on Garland to commit to investigating the “public corruption issue” and “not simply scapegoating Hunter Biden as an individual.”

Hunter was a board member of allegedly corrupt Ukrainian gas company Burisma, worked with Russian oligarchs and had a multi-million dollar deal with a Chinese government-affiliated oil company.

Republicans have accused his father, the president, of knowingly profiting from his son’s business ventures, in return claiming that Hunter previously used his father’s influential position as then-vice president to further his foreign operations.

Those ventures include a handful of large cash-out deals with members of the Chinese Communist Party, as well as Hunter’s infamous Burisma holdings deal, which paid the then-vice president’s son a whopping $1 million annually, ostensibly in return for exposure to Biden.

The allegations were spurred by emails recovered in 2020 from a laptop hard drive believed to belong to Hunter Biden, which appear to show he offers foreign and domestic partners meetings with his father, among other things.

The gun investigation, meanwhile, relates to Hunter Biden’s certification on a 2018 handgun purchase form that he was not an “unlawful user of or addicted to marijuana or other tranquilizers, stimulants, narcotics or other controlled substances.”
