Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar broke their silence after their eldest son, Josh, was found offense of downloading and possessing child sexual abuse images on Thursday.

The couple, who rose to fame on TLC’s “19 Kids and Counting” for their large family, released their statement after remaining silent throughout the trial.

“This whole ordeal has been very distressing,” the statement read. “Today, the grace of God, through the love and prayers of so many, sustains us.”

Duggar, 33 years old, found guilty two fees: One fee for downloading the document, another for owning it. Duggar’s sentencing has yet to be announced. He faces 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000 for each count.

Mr Duggars’ statement continued, “Our hearts and prayers go out to anyone who has been harmed through CSAM (child sexual abuse material).”

Jim Bob and Michelle vow to help Josh’s wife, Anna, and their seven children in the future.

“In the coming days, we will do all we can to surround our daughter-in-law Anna and their children with love and support,” the statement read. “As parents, we will never stop praying for Joshua, and love him, like all our children. In every circumstance of life, we put our trust in God. He is our source of strength and refuge. Thank you for your prayers.”

May those who once disbelieved open their eyes for the first time.”
