Joe Gorga almost left RHONJ mid-season.

Joe Gorga didn’t have the best run in season 12 of The Real Housewives of New Jersey and it got so bad for him he almost quit.

Melissa Gorga’s husband’s role on RHONJ has been fairly prominent from the start. His family drama with his sister, Teresa Giudice, has often been the center of attention, and it seems like he’s always been in the thick of things with women.

However, Season 12 brought something different for Joe and it affected him differently than his previous experiences. It all went down at a pool party that aired on the February 8, 2022 episode. Joe was confronted by his niece Gia Giudice when he overheard her talking about him to her mother.

“But it’s the whole thing, people get hurt and people get offended by things other people say, but that’s why you people just shouldn’t speak up like Dad deserves,” Gia told Teresa.

“What… Gia, what? I hear you talking,” says Joe.

“Are you going to disrespect me because then I won’t talk to you,” Gia replies.

“If you want to say something, go ahead. Because I’m your uncle and godfather. I’m older than you, but keep talking,” Joe replies. From there, the two went back and forth for a bit before Joe stormed off, frustrated with his niece.

What many fans don’t realize is that this argument has affected Joe deeply.

Here’s what you need to know:

Joe said he didn’t film for several weeks and almost left RHONJ after the fight with Gia

Joe sat down for an interview with Melissa Pfeister on March 23, 2022, Episode of the podcast “Side Piece”.. During their conversation, Joe opened up about the argument he had with his niece.

“I was shocked. Think about it. All right, I’ll take care of my sister. I’ll take care of my brother-in-law. I’ll take care of all that nonsense, right? But not my niece. You know what that did to me said Joe.

“You know, after that I didn’t shoot anymore. I didn’t film, I don’t think I filmed for a month. Three weeks. I have resigned. Yes. The production kind of slowed down, they didn’t even film that much. I was not there. They were just doing things outside… I wanted to stop. I was done,” Joe continued, adding, “I was like, ‘I’m not doing this. I’m not going to sit on the show arguing with my nieces…”

Joe said the production told him they would not pursue the issue any further, and he agreed to continue filming.

Joe said things are “okay” between him and Gia now.

It’s clear there were a lot of hurt feelings in this argument between Joe and Gia, but at the end of the day, they’re family. Joe admitted things were “fine,” but he seemed a little hesitant.

“We’re fine. I mean listen. It is OK? I mean, deep down you’re looking at her like, ‘Do you really feel that way?'” Joe said.

He went on to say that he felt he had to protect his sister because he was her brother and her parents were both gone. “I’m her only brother,” he said.

“What happened in that scene … when I slammed my hands on the table was because Teresa told me all the nasty things two days before [Joe Giudice] said to her,” Joe said, indicating he was already upset about the situation before Gia decided to say things.
