Joe Rodon has predicted Ben will become Davies manager when the Tottenham defender retires – in a video on the north London club’s official YouTube. The duo are close friends as both also play for Wales.
Just 28, Davies has proved a consistent and regular part of Antonio Conte’s side since the Italian replaced Nuno Espirito Santo at Tottenham. Meanwhile, Joe Rodon has fallen down the Spurs defensive pecking order.
Both are crucial to their country, with Davies already boasting 70 caps. The duo worked together to secure a crucial 2-1 win for Wales in a World Cup semi-final play-off against Austria last week – Gareth Bale scoring twice.
In a video titled ‘Pals, with Ben & Joe’ on Tottenham’s YouTube channel, Rodon claims Davies will be manager when he retires. The defender has already played 262 games for Spurs.
“He’s going to be a manager. He’ll be manager one day, I promise you. You heard it here first. Really, he’ll be a manager, I promise. I will be your recruiting boss,” Rodon told Tottenham’s YouTube channel.
Rodon on Davies: Tottenham star seems to have managerial character
Davies is barely in the top flight of players at Tottenham. But what makes him a crucial part of the team is his work speed, consistency, tactical skill and decision making. It has seen him play 18 of Conte’s 20 Premier League games.
The defender is also known for being quite intelligent off the pitch, having graduated with a degree in business and economics. Davies certainly shows the qualities required to be a manager by the end of his career.
In other news, the £27m player is set to leave Spurs, he didn’t like Nuno’s sacking – in our opinion
