Report from the Italian website CalcioMercato that Jose Mourinho is in a three-way battle to sign Arsenal defender Hector Bellerin for AS Roma. The Arsenal ace is set to return to the Gunners ahead of a fascinating summer.
The 27-year-old Bellerin was in superb form for Betis while on loan at the La Liga club. However, a permanent move remains unclear – even if Bellerin says he wants to move to Manuel Pellegrini’s side beyond the end of his loan.
The Spain international, who has made 239 appearances for Arsenal over the years, has one year left on his contract at Emirates. Goal reporter Charles Watts says the Gunners are ready to cash in on £15m.
Now new reports say Mourinho wants him. The ex-Spurs gaffer has been linked with the likes of Granit Xhaka, while he has also been on loan from Ainsley Maitland-Niles. Now he wants the “incredible” barker.
Indeed, the report states that Juventus are also keeping tabs on Bellerin. Inter Milan are also interested in Bellerin as the race for the disgraced Arsenal man heats up. Mikel Arteta’s stance is currently unknown.
Jose Mourinho is fighting to sign Arsenal defender Hector Bellerin
Roma are gearing up for a Europa League season and continue to target Premier League signings. Bellerin, still just 27 at £15m, is an excellent deal if Mourinho can secure a deal.
It’s a win-win situation for everyone involved. Roma get a good player at a good age for a good price. Arsenal are getting a solid transfer for someone with 12 months left on his contract and Bellerin is moving to a big club. Suitable for all parties.
