Owen O’Doherty also wrote a long tribute to Glyer on Facebook. It read in part:
Last Friday we at DonorSee received the most unimaginable and tragic news. We have lost one of life’s greats, our founder and CEO, Gret Glyer, to a heinous crime.
It’s still hard to understand and comprehend how something like this could have happened and how a life like his could be cut short in this way.
As we try to come to terms with this, let’s focus on celebrating everything he was and achieved in his life, which was immense. As anyone who has ever come into contact with Gret will tell you, he was an amazing light and spirit of buoyant optimism with a quick wit, a big personality and a great vision to make the world a better place for those less fortunate close.
And what a difference he made.
I have been fortunate to witness first hand the changes he has brought to communities in need of help. I have seen communities where he has built homes for the homeless, where communities of young people who were formerly denied an education for economic reasons are now able to attend school. By founding and building DonorSee, he expanded that reach by partnering with nonprofits to raise funds to fuel transformational projects around the world.
Gret was an inspiration.
