Judge postpones Halloween hearing for man charged with murder of Columbus wife

COLUMBUS, Georgia (WRBL) – A man accused of murdering a Columbus woman appeared in Recorder’s Court for the second time Thursday morning.

Brandon Patterson, 40, is accused of murdering 37-year-old Christina Rena Richardson. Authorities found her body at the Motel 6 on Victory Drive on Halloween.

For the second time in the last two weeks, Patterson still has not retained an attorney. Appearing in court in a wheelchair, Patterson told the judge that a friend was trying to hire Columbus defense attorney William Kendrick.

WRBL reached out to Kendrick on Thursday and he told WRBL that his office has not had conversations with Patterson

The judge postponed the hearing until December 1st. The judge also told Patterson that the next time he did not have an attorney, the hearing would still take place and he would be assigned a public defender.
