Jujutsu Kaisen 0 rocks the worldwide box office

“Jujutsu Kaisen 0” premiered in Japanese cinemas on Christmas Eve last year and received an amazing response from fans domestically.

Over 15,000 people looked the earliest midnight showings of the film, which grossed 2.694 billion yen (US$23.5 million) in its first three days at the Japanese box office.

In fact, by the end of the film’s theatrical run in Japan, Jujutsu Kaisen 0 was the highest-grossing Japanese film of 2021, surpassing the equally brilliant Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time.

Can’t believe the movie is out now considered than 20th highest-grossing film in the history of the Japanese box office, Behind like Your Name, Spirited Away, Howl’s Moving Castle, Princess Mononoke and of course Demon Slayer: Mugen Train.

On March 19ththIn May 2022, the anime prequel film finally hit theaters in Europe and North America, with global audiences obviously keen to see the film on the big screen.

In both the UK and North America, the film would have just an exceptional opening weekend lagging behind slightly behind Robert Patterson’s The Batman in terms of income generated.

Until March 25ththa week after the worldwide theatrical debut, The payment reports that Jujutsu Kaisen 0 has earned over $150 million at the global box office; $18 million domestically and $132 million internationally.

“There’s some nice upheaval in the box office this weekend, led by the very strong debut of the anime tie-in/manga adaptation Jujutsu Kaisen 0: The Movie. It opened in second place at $14.8 million, a little less than half of what The Batman shot in its third week ($36 million for a total of $300 million), but this is a big-budget American superhero film, not an imported anime film.” — Sam Barsanti, above AV club.

Exceptional ratings to secure revenue

As Jujutsu Kaisen 0 continues to cash in theaters around the world, the film also maintains its exceptional user ratings.

From March 25thththe film achieves an unbelievable 8.3/10 points IMDB8.55/10 on MyAnimeListwith 97% tomatometer and 99% average audience rating Rotten tomatoes.

The film is also rated 72% and 7.7/10 by metacritical critical ratings or user ratings. The critics were also beaming for Jujutsu Kaisen 0, with almost all the glitches praising the films. A rating of 9/10 on IGN’s rating, with 4/5 from both The guard and comic book.

We also gave the film a score of 9/10 in our early review, see the full article here.

“It wasn’t a Christmas miracle. Jujutsu Kaisen 0 earns its success by doing something many prequels fail to do: it tells a satisfying standalone story that ties into and expands on the main series’ story, while also welcoming newcomers to the franchise. – polygon.

Season 2 of the anime scheduled for 2023 returns

With Jujutsu Kaisen 0 proving so successful not only in Japan but around the world, fans are understandably desperate for a sequel to the TV series.

The good news is that Season 2 of Jujutsu Kaisen will premiere in 2023, as confirmed at the Jump Festa event in February.

There was some confusion online as to whether the series would return as part of the winter broadcast schedule, i.e. in January 2023, after the Weekly Shonen Jump News Twitter page made a mistake in their original post.

However, this information was quickly changed, with the most likely scenario being that the second season of Jujutsu Kaisen will debut in either April or July 2023.
