Jurgen Klopp praises ‘extremely good’ 31-goal goal for Arsenal and Newcastle

Jurgen Klopp spoke to the media ahead of Wednesday night’s Champions League clash between Liverpool and Benfica.

Ahead of the second leg in the quarter-finals, the German found time to heap praise on Arsenal and Newcastle target Darwin Nunez.

What’s the matter?

Well, Klopp is clearly a huge fan of the 22-year-old, who is among the top strikers in Europe this season.

Nunez scored impressively 31 goals in 36 games this season while also providing three assists.

That To express believe Arsenal and Newcastle sent scouts to watch the Uruguay international against Liverpool last week and were rewarded with a goal from him as Benfica lost 3-1.

Now Klopp has praised the South American.

As quoted by Fabrizio Romano, said the 54-year-old: “An extremely handsome boy, isn’t he? He’s a really good boy. He played before me and fought Konate. At the finish he was calm. He’s good, really good. If he stays healthy, he has a great career ahead of him.”

Obviously, Klopp is a big Nunez fan, which is no surprise.

Given his striking performances this season, very few people in the world of football can claim not to be admirers of Benfica’s No9.

Interestingly, Liverpool could indeed beat Mikel Arteta and Eddie Howe for the prolific striker’s signature.

Portuguese news outlet O Jogo believe the Reds are looking to sign Nunez this summer, a move he would presumably be open to given Liverpool’s status.

Of course, with Sadio Mane, Luis Diaz, Diogo Jota, Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah already at Anfield, the forward department is quite crowded.

However, if any of those five leave this summer, we could see Nunez resplendent in a different shade of red next season.
