A “Bachelor” contestant who didn’t make the final four has opened up about being sent home by Zach Shallcross and expressed how she thought they could go the distance in an interview with US Weekly.

Stop reading if you don’t want to receive spoilers for the March 6, 2023 episode.

The episode showed Shallcross narrowing the women down to the last four, and he clipped one woman who appeared to have a chance of going the distance.

That contestant who was sent home was, spoiler alert, Kat Izzo. She spoke to US Weekly about to be cut.

“I did [feel blindsided]’ she told the magazine. “I could definitely think about where my feelings were at that moment and they were feeling bad. But I didn’t think that would be something that would overtake our relationship.”

According to US Weekly, Izzo continued, “We had a tough week, but we also had five good weeks. So I thought that would be something to show my family, ‘Yeah, sometimes we’re not perfect. Sometimes we fight. But he wants to love her through it.’ I had hoped it would be him. Unfortunately it wasn’t. But it’s OK.”

She added, according to US Weekly, “I think he showed me qualities that I would definitely pursue outside of here, like his goofiness and his presence was something I really felt drawn to.” And even to the point that we left, I was like, ‘What? You shall be my husband.’”

Izzo told the magazine: “But it’s OK! I mean, I’ve never felt those feelings. Even when I wanted to give up because it was hard, I thought, ‘No, that’s who I am in the end.’ I would never give that up.”

Fans of the show will recall that Izzo caused some drama on set when she kissed Shallcross just before Charity Lawson went on her singles date with him. Some of the other women didn’t like that.

Contestant Brooklyn Willie was one of the contestants who resented Izzo over the move. Izzo previously shared a few choice words about Willie during the show.

“With Brooklyn, the aggression continues,” Izzo said in episode 6. “Now it’s like you’re just aggressive for no reason. You’re aggressive to be mean. I was just supportive and pleasant to everyone the whole time. So be treated like that. It’s like, no. I won’t apologize for that.

A fan wrote on Twitter, “#TheBachelor Well, Kat played her role perfectly and she’s going to paradise. She may have missed her chance to be the next Bachelorette, but she’ll still make good bucks out of her ‘part’ in this fiasco.”
