“And I would say don’t worry, I can’t think of anything, I don’t know what to say, I don’t know what I’m going to do.
“It just meant we held hands a lot more. I was just so blown away by her. She didn’t need my help at all.
“Sometimes I could show a technical trick that I learned along the way. Little things nobody teaches you and she appreciated those things but when it came to acting she would say I get it, I’m good.

“Of course there would be some degree of overlap. We just wanted to do something that hopefully people would resonate with,” she said.
She continued to talk about her own experiences as a parent, admitting that it can be “very hard” to step back and let kids make their own decisions.
“It’s very, very hard to just trust that nowadays they know how to take care of themselves and how to take care of them… just what to say,” she said.
“Sometimes you just have to let them be and take a step back, and as a parent that’s very difficult.”
I Am Ruth is a sequel to the Bafta-nominated, female-directed drama anthology series I Am, created by filmmaker Dominic Savage.
The fictional storyline for the two-hour program exploring the mental health crisis affecting young people in the UK was developed and co-authored by Winslet and Savage
