Keith Melvin Moses was named by the Orange County Sheriff as the 19-year-old man accused of murdering a News 13 television worker, a 9-year-old girl and a 20-year-old woman in Orlando, Florida on February 22, 2023.
Overall, Orange County Sheriff John Mina says Moses is charged with shooting five people; the above three have died. The girl’s mother and one of the news crew members are still alive but in critical condition, Mina said. Four of the shootings were random and involved victims Moses did not previously know, Mina said.

Mina said the suspect is also accused of shooting dead another News 13 employee, as well as a woman and a 9-year-old girl who were at a nearby house. Moses is in custody, the sheriff said.
“What a horrible day this has been for our community and our media partners,” Mina said.
“It’s hard to tell if he’s targeting this news team,” the sheriff said. He said the news team’s vehicle “doesn’t really look like a news vehicle,” but a photographer was there, “so it’s possible.” He also said, “It’s possible he mistook them for law enforcement.”
The Orange County Sheriff’s Department initially tweeted, “ALARM: Several people shot dead on Hialeah Street, same scene as murder earlier today. One person has been arrested.”

According to Mina’s press conferenceAt 11 a.m. on February 22, 2023, MPs on Hialeah Street called for a report of the first shooting.
There, according to the sheriff, they found a woman in her 20s who was shot and succumbed to her injuries. The names of the victims were not released. Moses was an acquaintance of this woman, Mina said.
Homicide investigators responded to the scene and developed good leads on the suspect, he said.
According to Mina, at 4:05 p.m. the sheriff’s department received 911 calls about another shooting at that location and a shooting nearby.
He said two men were shot in or near a vehicle and identified them as “a News 13 reporter and photographer who was on the scene” to cover the earlier killing. The employees were not named.

Another woman and a 9-year-old girl were also shot in a home, according to the sheriff. He said it was unclear why the suspect entered the home. According to Mina, Moses did not know this woman or child.
The mother is in critical condition, Mina said.
The victims were transported to nearby hospitals. He said one of the News 13 crew members died, but didn’t say if it was the reporter or the photographer.
Mina said sheriff’s officers arrested the man they believe is responsible for the crime spree. He then named Keith Melvin Moses and said he was charged earlier on the morning of February 22, 2023.

Moses has a long criminal history. including gun charges, aggravated battery and assault with a deadly weapon, burglary and grand larceny charges, Mina said at the press conference.
Mina said it was not clear if Moses knew that News 14 staff were members of the news media.
