Keke Palmer talks adult acne in new video

Acne doesn’t just affect someone physically. It can trigger a roller coaster of emotions. Just ask Keke Palmer. In a new video, the actor revealed he’s still dealing with adult acne. Palmer always thinks it’s real, but it’s still refreshing to see such a big star saying what we’re all thinking: why is acne still so hard to treat?!

Earlier this week, Palmer hopped on Instagram to make a joking, but not joking, video asking doctors to come up with a cure for adult acne. “Plastic surgeons are amazing,” she says. “All these years and all these inventions — breast surgeries, over the muscle, under the muscle, tummy tuck, BBL, even implanted muscles — but you can’t figure out how to take the beautiful skin off my ass and put it on my face? I’m sick of it, I’m done struggling with people out here struggling with adult acne and you haven’t figured out this cure?

This isn’t the first time Palmer has opened up about her acne struggles. Back in December 2020, she announced that she had been diagnosed with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS).

“For some of you this might be TMI, but for me my platform has always been used for things much bigger than me,” she wrote. “Polycystic ovarian syndrome has been attacking me from the inside my entire life, and I had no idea. My acne was so bad that people in my area offered to pay for the treatment. I’ve tried everything.”

Palmer says she was put on Accutane twice, ate well and got clear blood work. The doctors couldn’t find anything wrong. So she took her health into her own hands and did her research, took what she found to a doctor and got a proper diagnosis. But even after you get answers, dealing with the symptoms of PCOS, like acne, can be an ongoing struggle. But talking about it like Palmer does helps break the stigma. Because every skin is good skin.
