After beating the Cleveland Cavaliers in the play-ins on April 12, the Brooklyn Nets will begin the playoffs against the Boston Celtics in game 1 of the Eastern Conference quarterfinals. According to ESPN Insider, Adrian Wojnarowski, Nets forward Ben Simmons, who is yet to play this season, is expected to be fit at some point in the first round.
“Simmons had to have an epidural in mid-March to relieve the pain and discomfort from a herniated disc in his lower back. He’s found more traction over the past week and, barring setbacks, there’s growing belief that he could be at the Nets at some point in the first series,” Wojnarowski wrote on ESPN. .

Kevin Durant reveals the grim truth about Ben Simmons’ return
Simmons could be a big boost for Brooklyn if he makes his debut in the first round. However, Kevin Durant of the Nets All-Star said he does not take his hat off on the hopes of Simmons returning in this playoff.
“I don’t expect him to play. I didn’t put any pressure on Ben to get out there and go around,” Durant told reporters during the April 14 shoot. per Brian Lewis of the “New York Post”. “I don’t expect him to do anything but just stay as fit and healthy as possible. I’m preparing as if we were playing with / the team we have”
Despite Wojnarowski’s report that Simmons could play in the first round, Nets head coach Steve Nash said the team did not have any further updates on the return schedule of the three-time All-Star.
“I have no idea [about Game 3]. I don’t know where these reports come from. We don’t have an updated timetable so I don’t think that’s coming from us. Well, I would say the progress last week will be heavier than the first three weeks or so,” Nash told reporters on NetsDaily.
“He’s moving more, he’s shooting, he’s starting to move a little bit on the pitch in a one-of-a-kind environment. So definitely positive signs that it’s improving and moving and all that. But like I said, he hasn’t run at full speed or competed against anyone, so there’s still plenty of markers to meet. ”
Celtics Coaches Hear Simmons’ ‘Predictability’
Having a wild card in Simmons just waiting in the wing can be a big advantage for the Nets. It could therefore be a major disadvantage for Celtics head coach Ime Udoka and his game plans. But Udoka says he and his team must be prepared to make the necessary adjustments should Simmons return.
“It will be difficult to simulate [Simmons] stay with Brooklyn because we haven’t seen him use with them yet. Obviously, I coached him two years ago, and a lot of people have played with or against him, so we know what kind of person he is. Obviously, with a year off, there’s going to be some rust and some unpredictability as to how they’ll deploy him with their team,” Udoka told reporters on NetsDaily.
“But we know his game, we know what he does, and unless something happened last year, we know how to attack him and manipulate certain things, far away. so. But it’s difficult because he hasn’t played with that team yet, so who knows how [he’ll] used with them. “
Simmons’ status hangs in the balance and could have played a major factor in the outcome of this series. While his ability to compete remains to be seen, the Nets will have to prepare as if they were going to battle without Simmons’ service.
