T1 kkOma returns as head coach in 2024

Kukmin Ilbo originally reported that the Korean head coach would be returning to T1. On the night of November 21st, T1 made the announcement official through a video posted on X.

As the agency’s transfer window officially opened, there have been several moves in the LCK, and T1 is no exception. Tom moved from interim head coach to coach while Sky and Roach left the team.

Now that Season 13 is over, it will be exciting to see what kkOma and Faker will do in the 2024 season. The Korean mid laner and Oner are the only players still under contract with T1, as Zeus, Gumayusi and Keria’s contracts all expire on November 20th. Despite winning the World Cup, it is unclear whether all five members will stick together.

kkOma’s career in League of Legends

Widely considered one of the greatest coaches in the history of LoL esports, Kim began his coaching career in 2013. Under his leadership, he led SKT T1 to three World Championships and multiple LCK titles, proving to be the most decorated coach.

At the end of 2019, kkOma moved to China’s Vici Gaming, but the results didn’t work out, which brought him back to Korea to DAMWON Gaming, where he won the world title in 2020 and came second in 2021. The coach ultimately remained in the DWG squad as sports director until the end of 2022 before taking a break. He briefly returned as head coach of the South Korean national team at the 2022 Asian Games and won the gold medal. After almost a year away from the esports scene, kkOma is back at the age of 37 to compete alongside T1 and Faker.
