Jurgen Klopp has revealed that Diogo Jota has “a good chance” of representing Liverpool against Manchester City in the FA Cup semi-finals on Saturday night.
The Portuguese international was considered doubtful.
And that’s because Klopp revealed on Wednesday the player took a hit in the Champions League against Benfica this week.
However, in conversation with Liverpool’s official websitethe German manager was much more optimistic on Thursday.
He said: “I said last night that Diogo took a hit – that’s slightly swollen right after the game, obviously while I was in the press conference.
“Diogo, good chances he’s fine, but we’ll have to take a closer look tomorrow. That’s it.”
There’s no telling what a massive boost this could be for the Reds.
Recall that Jota has already scored against Manchester City last week, having scored in last Sunday’s frenetic 2-2 draw at Eastlands.
With 21 goals in all competitions This season, the former Wolves attacker has become a tremendous player for Liverpool.
And no doubt their chances of winning will increase if it turns out he’s fit enough to take on Pep Guardiola’s side.
The Spaniard will be secretly disappointed if Jota is fit and that will tell you all you need to know.
