That’s what Liverpool coach Jurgen Klopp said BBC Sport that Joe Gomez will get more games by the end of the season.
Klopp made the comments on Gomez after his Liverpool side defeated Watford 2-0 this afternoon at Anfield in the Premier League.
Gomez started the game at right-back due to fitness concerns about Trent Alexander-Arnold.
The 24-year-old, who can also play at centre-back, provided the assist for Gomez’s goal.
Jurgen Klopp on Liverpool’s Joe Gomez
Klopp told BBC Sport on Gomez: “Up. He set up the goal and had another brilliant cross in the second half that could have been a goal.
“How can you replace Trent Alexander-Arnold? I didn’t ask him to play like Trent, I said play like Joe Gomez. He’s an outstanding player. He will have more games towards the end of the season.”
In our opinion, a regular Klopp game against Gomez could have implications for the Liverpool defender’s future in the coming weeks.
Well-known and respected journalist Graeme Bailey reported in The Anfield Watch This month Tottenham Hotspur, Everton and West Ham United are among the clubs interested in Gomez.
The defender himself is concerned about his place in England’s squad for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar later in the year and is reportedly open to leaving Anfield.
If Gomez gets decent playing time for Liverpool in the final weeks of the season, he could decide to stay at Anfield beyond the summer of 2022
