The transfer window isn’t too far away and we’re already hearing stories about potential Premier League moves.
One player almost certain to be on the road this summer is Leeds United’s Raphinha.
The winger is reportedly attracting interest from Liverpool, Chelsea and Barcelona but we think Liverpool could quickly find themselves falling behind in the race for the Brazilian’s one-man signing.
In fact, Raphinha’s agent is Deco and when you look at the teams interested in his client it’s easy to see why Liverpool could be at a disadvantage.
Deco has obvious ties to Chelsea and Barcelona, having played for both clubs and given his affection for those two teams it wouldn’t be surprising if he pushed Raphinha towards Camp Nou or Stamford Bridge rather than Anfield.
From a football perspective, Liverpool might be the best move for Raphinha. He would suit Jurgen Klopp’s style of play and help the Reds fight for trophies, but given his agent’s ties to Chelsea and Barca, he could be dissuaded from Merseyside.
Agents have an immeasurable influence on the transfer window these days and when Deco advises the winger to go to London or Catalonia rather than Merseyside, he might be listening.
Deco may have scored against Liverpool in the 2007 Champions League but chasing Raphinha away from Anfield could be the most damaging thing the Portuguese agent has ever done for Liverpool.
