Knicks Give Important Update On RJ Barrett’s Ankle Injury
The New York Knicks will be without the services of star guard RJ Barrett for the foreseeable future due to a late-game injury.
In a recent loss, Barrett had to come off the field in the last minutes of a game with no hope of returning. He ended the game with an ankle injury and he hasn’t seen the floor since.
Injuries can happen at any time, so it may not be fair to point fingers here, but a lot of fans have attributed this injury on Tom Thibodeau. Even the New York Post’s Marc Berman blames Thibodeau, and he also insists Barrett will miss time past All-Star Break.
RJ Barrett is off the field until after the All-Star Break because he needs more time after spraining his ankle from being left in the game by Tom Thibodeau with 18 seconds left,” he say. “Nerlens Noel also has normal knee pain. RJ didn’t miss a game all season last season. This will be his 4th in a row. ”
Is Barrett okay?
Since the loss to the Nuggets, Barrett has not played and that leads some to think his injury could be more serious than previously thought.
Currently, he considered daily And with some optimism, he might be ready for a big showdown with the Brooklyn Nets.
With him missing that game, he’ll now have plenty of time to recover as the Knicks’ next game will be the Miami Heat on February 25, a game that will be televised nationally on ESPN. .
Barrett will most likely be restored to health by then, and if not then there are certainly plenty of reasons to worry. The Knicks struggled without their star, leading 1-2 without him, but the team had a lot of problems even with him on the roster.
Julius Randle had very encouraging signs later this year, but it did not lead to a winning product.
How to rebuild the Knicks?
The Knicks will have to rely on their young stars to get out of this hole, whether it’s this season or the next.
Players like Miles McBride and Quentin Grimes will need more playing time, and fans have been clamoring for more McBride later this year.
He tore it up in the G-League, but he didn’t see a minute after being called back to the Knicks. It’s clear he has some talent that could be on display at the Garden, but Thibodeau exactly hasn’t given him much of a chance to prove it yet.
As the Knicks slide further out of the playoff picture, he may find himself with no choice but to give the youngsters a little run. It doesn’t make sense to sit on what could be an important building block, but Thibodeau has shown he enjoys giving his veterans play time.
Taj Gibson played more minutes than Obi Toppin and Cam Reddish in the loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder.
