Kyle and Jackie O: Brittany Hockley is announced as Jackie’s replacement

Brittany Hockley will fill in for Jackie ‘O’ Henderson over the next few weeks while the popular presenter takes some time off to recover from the aftermath of Covid.

A former Bachelors contestant, Hockley is a rising star at KIIS FM and is already presenting the network’s popular Life Uncut podcast and weekend radio show of the same name.

After stepping up to the hosting seat on Monday, an ARN spokeswoman confirmed to Daily Mail Australia that she will be the regular replacement until Henderson returns.

Henderson, 47, said at the start of the show on Monday she has been suffering from poor health since contracting Covid-19 a few months ago and has been told by doctors to take time off and get adequate rest to recover from the virus to recover.

She told listeners she wouldn’t be on the air for the next “couple of weeks,” but didn’t give a return date.

Hockley, 35, who currently stars on Channel 10 reality show The Challenge, immediately stepped into Henderson’s role alongside Kyle Sandilands.

Hockley recently became part of the KIIS FM family after reportedly inking a multi-million dollar deal with the station’s parent company, ARN.

Industry rumors have suggested the repainted 3pm pick-up afternoon show will be replaced by Life Uncut, which Hockley co-hosts with Laura Byrne.

On Monday, Hockley said something big is coming when she revealed she was instructed by ARN to create her own TikTok account, a strong indication that listeners will be hearing more from her.

Her podcast, Life Uncut, is arguably Australia’s most popular female podcast, recently climbing to number five on the charts.

She and Byrne have won Listeners’ Choice Awards at the Australian Podcast Awards two years in a row.

“I’ve been to the doctor several times and he said because I’m exerting myself every day, I just slept after the show and I’m not getting any better.”

“I feel like it’s gotten worse. I can hear it,” replied her co-host Kyle Sandilands, who noted that Henderson couldn’t even laugh without throwing a coughing fit.

“I just need to take some time off,” Henderson added. “I’m closing the show today. Like right now.’

She continued, “You know how much this show means to me. You know how pushy I am, and I wouldn’t do it if I didn’t have to.

“Without going into details, I’m fine. I just…’ she said, before Sandilands asked her gravely, ‘Are you dying? you have cancer?’

She responded that she was not dying or had cancer, but just needed “proper, serious rest,” per doctor’s orders.

“He basically said, ‘If you keep this up, it’s going to get a lot worse,’ and I took his advice,” she said.

“I rarely take the advice of doctors, I usually say, ‘Nah, it’ll be fine. ” [But] At least I’m feeling better and I’ll be with you again soon.’

He then joked that it was all a ruse because the twice-divorced Henderson had secretly “taken a lover” — which she denied.

“It’s just the rest, preemie, that’s the way,” she said.
