The son of a disgraced reality TV show couple has been accused of drawing a blade on a work boss.
Just months after father Todd Chrisley and stepmother Julie Chrisley were sent to prison on fraud charges, Kyle Chrisley, 32, was summoned on Monday for aggravated assault, online records from Smyrna, Tennessee show.
The victim said Chrisley punched him multiple times in the face and upper body, police said in an affidavit.
“The victim stated that the defendant also displayed a fixed-blade knife and threatened to kill/stab him,” police wrote. “I saw injuries to the victims’ heads, necks and hands, including bruises and lacerations. Witnesses at the scene confirmed that the defendant displayed a knife and threatened to stab the victim.”
Cops said Kyle turned himself in to Chrisley on Tuesday.
Bail was set at $3,000, records show. A court hearing is scheduled for March 28th. Records show no defender.
This comes just months after a federal judge sentenced Todd and Julie Chrisley to prison for fraud at Georgia Community Banks and the IRS.
“Over the course of a decade, the defendants defrauded banks out of tens of millions of dollars while evading the payment of their federal income taxes,” US Attorney Ryan K. Buchanan of the Northern District of Georgia said in a statement at the time. “Their lengthy prison terms reflect the magnitude of their criminal scheme and should serve as a warning to others who may be tempted to exploit our nation’s community banking system for ill-gotten gain.”
Prosecutors said the couple filed false bank statements, audit reports and personal financial reports with community banks in Georgia to obtain loans.
“After spending all the money, Todd Chrisley filed for bankruptcy and abandoned more than $20 million of those fraudulently obtained loans,” authorities said. “Later, when Todd and Julie Chrisley were making millions from their TV show, they conspired with their accountant, Peter Tarantino, to defraud the Internal Revenue Service.”
Todd Chrisley, 54, is in FPC Pensacola, which is recorded to be released on April 7, 2033. Julie Chrisley, 50, is FMC Lexington, who is scheduled to be released on January 2, 2029. You also have to pay compensation.
Tarantino was sentenced to three years in prison, although records show he is not in federal custody.
They are each released under supervision for three years after being released from prison.
In his own memorandum, Todd Chrisley argued that the “correct guidelines and range of sentences are much lower” than prosecutors suggested. That memo was full of effervescent and glowing character references: “I thank God every day for blessing me with the opportunity to have Mr. Chrisley in my life.” rare good” and so on.
Prosecutors cited this as recalcitrance.
“The Chrisleys objected to almost everything in their PSRs [pre-sentence reports]’ prosecutors wrote in a whopping 71-page sentencing memorandum, asking up to 22 years for Todd and 12.5 years for Julie. “Most of their objections are attempts to reinterpret the evidence from the trial and to re-argue that the statements and evidence of their witnesses should be accepted despite the unanimous verdict of the jury.”
To update: We removed the reference to Penske Truck Rental as Chrisley’s place of work.
“It has been confirmed that Kyle Chrisley does not work for Penske but was involved in an incident that was reported at East Enon Springs Road Smyrna, TN,” Smyrna Police Spokesperson Heather Kent wrote in an email.
