Lakers News: Anthony Davis Working With Celebrity Shooting Coach After Wrestling Jumper

One of the Los Angeles Lakers’ most important players is working with a popular shooting coach this summer after struggling with his jump in 2021-22.

Anthony Davis, who shoots just 18.6% from the edge of the arc in 2021-22, has trained with “Lethal Shooter,” one of the world’s top shooting coaches.

Davis struggled with his diver in 2021-22. The one-time champion hit 34.8% when he “jumped” and 31.7% when shot from 10 to 15 feet. The Lakers will need Davis to shoot more effectively in 2022-23 if they are to compete in the tough Western Conference.

The 2021-22 campaign is a tough one for Davis, who only appeared in 40 games due to two serious injuries. The Chicago-born player averaged 23.2 points, 9.9 rebounds and 3.1 assists. However, Davis shot as far as 71.3% from the free throw.

Davis: ‘When I’m Healthy, I’m a Mom’

Davis has played just 76 games in the regular season since helping the Lakers win the 2020 championship. The eight-time All-Star is aware that his injury history is the only major defect on a single copy. Excellent professional resume.

Davis told ESPN’s Dave McMenamin in April: “My job is to be on the basketball floor and play the game. “When I was healthy, I was a mother. But I have to stay healthy. Unfortunately those are two injuries that I can’t control this year but I’ll come back to it next year and see what happens. ”

Davis, 29, missed 17 games in a row from late December to late January after spraining the MCL in his left knee during a game against the Minnesota Timberwolves. Then in mid-February, the future Hall of Famer injured his foot against the Utah Jazz, causing him to miss 18 games in a row.

Davis told McMenamin: “I’ve had no injuries this year, ‘Damn it, it’s AD’s fault’. “Someone fell on my leg, sprained my MCL. The exact same thing [Kevin Durant] yes. Honestly, my training method is top-notch. I can’t control stepping on someone’s foot and I can’t control someone falling on my foot. It’s not like I’m out of shape and I’ve done some crazy things or it’s anything I can control.

“I could have one, just keep lifting more legs. Or I may have torn some tear in my knee. So it’s a positive thing for me, knowing that I’ve done a lot of work this summer and I’ve prevented serious injuries to my body. So people can say what they want to say, but I know what I do every summer to get ready for an 82-game season.”

Davis signed a five-year, $190 million contract with the Lakers in December 2020. He shares the same agent as LeBron James (Klutch Sports’ Rich Paul). James and Davis have a close relationship off the court, so while anything can happen in the NBA, King and the Brow will return to Los Angeles next season.

Davis doesn’t think he’ll be traded

Davis, a member of the NBA’s 75th Anniversary Team, has no indication that the Lakers will trade for him this season. He talked about his future in Los Angeles with McMenamin in April.

“I can’t control those things,” Davis told McMenamin. “It was something upstairs. A Klutch thing, rich Paul. My agency. I mean, my job is to go out and play basketball. Obviously, I like it in LA. If that’s what they’re looking at, then we’ll have a chat about it. I don’t know what they’re talking about, what the plan is. “I mean, I don’t think they’re planning on doing anything [with me]. I don’t know, man. F***, I don’t know. ”

The Lakers were 75-33 in the regular season when James and Davis competed. Due to injuries, the two superstars only played together 21 matches in the period 2021-22.
