Lancaster County school evacuated after threat

LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM) – A Lancaster County school was evacuated Thursday after an anonymous threat was made.

According to the Pennsylvania State Police, officers were notified at 2:19 p.m. of the telephone threat against Martic Elementary School.

Penn Manor School District says they received the anonymous calls and the building was immediately locked down.

Troopers and local police responded and all students and staff were safely evacuated in small groups during normal bus hours. All extracurricular activities have been cancelled.

“We would like to commend law enforcement members for ensuring a safe school environment and our school staff for their diligence in ensuring the safe release of Martic students,” said Superintendent Dr. Phil Gale. “We would also like to thank our parents for their patience and cooperation during this incident.”

The district says anyone with questions should ask Dr. Gale at 717-872-9500.

State police say more information will be released as it becomes available.
